The end and the beginning
Each time at the end of the year we are thinking back; how was the year just passed? What happened in the world, what happened with us, with our families, our friends our communities? It was a good year or a bad one? What is going to happen next one? I think there is no person in the world who is not thinking at least for a second at these things.
After our new (the second ;) ) baby boy birth, a second edition of eLiberatica, 3 months in Romania and Europe this summer, and a change in my job – I can say that 2008 was a year full with good events. It was challenging and tough, like all years since we came in this amazing country, but was good.
Even if we turned back from Romania with contradictory feelings, still we miss the places and the people there.
How do we feel about Romania now, after checking each time Cronica Carcotasilor (probably one of the best and single Romanian show about how absurd the things can go in an interminable transition the country is passing – sorry, is only in Romanian) and the news about this year Romanian elections (ironically, I see some similarities with what happened with elections here in Canada this year)?
We feel the same – frustration and sadnes but also hope and love.

Speaking about Romanian elections – I was perplexed to read that more than 15 new members of Romanian Parliament are persons who are having a criminal record or are investigated by the police.
On the other hand, there are still people with big hearts and good intentions in that country; and this make me think that not everything is lost.
Probably the worst thing is that Romanians don’t know to choose their leaders. A thing that in the last hour, on the edge of the ravine, Americans proved again they know. Electing Obama, they cleaned their face somehow; they started to regain the national pride (let’s hope they will not miss this last chance).
All this being said, it makes me think to go further and have again eLiberatica in 2009. Even if is going to be very hard for me, even if are harsh financial and economical times in the world. I said many times that we, the “ordinary people” can influence what is happening with us. So I’m following my believes.
I hope at the end of January we will publish a plan for eLiberatica 2009.

Now back to Vancouver, where is the other part of our hearth and life – Here is snowing ;) And is so beautiful! I just read on the daily newspaper that this kind of weather is happening only one in ten years.
This morning when going to my office, I took the camera and shot some pictures. Here are a few.

Last but not least – after having time to think more about my life this summer (and realizing that we have only one ;) ), I decided it would pay the time and effort to search finally for the job and organization that is really fitting with my passion. On last Friday, talking with my boss, I told him that I have the same passion now after two months of working for this company like in the first day I came here. And this is because David really knows how to handle people and let them do their jobs without interfering, but supporting and encouraging them.
Navarik was a good company, with great people (some of you met Bill at eLiberatica and know what I mean) and I left it with half of my hearth. Still miss them, but here at CloudBench I see a future; I’m doing many things I did for eLiberatica – web marketing and product promotion and time to time things I did for Navarik (UI/UX). And this is why, when I’m thinking on Sundays, that next day a new week starts, I actually just wait to be there and start a new day of work. And this is rare.
Probably the view from my desk is also influencing my feelings ;) :

PS – Sorry, I’m not a blogger nor a good writer, I just keep this journal because I try with my very small powers to do something good. And probably that thing is eLiberatica. I know there are still a few people reading my posts – please indulge me I’m writing so rare and so disparate. You really count for me and when I’m looking to the site statistics, this gives me energy to go forwrad.
